This is the jewellers paintbrush when it comes to the finishing process. The most important aspect of getting the desired finish, is getting this stage perfect. “Emery’ing” the surface from the raw cast, through to the final polish. From low to high grit, we’ll use anywhere from 3 to 8 different emery sticks preparing the silver for the high polish. Generally from 240grit up to 1000, and even 3000 on certain surfaces

Steel Mandrel

Used for; after we received the raw cast back from the casting house, the mandrel, along with a raw hide mallet, will be used to achieve the perfect circular shape on the inner band and bring the ring up to the desired finger size. At this stage, the metal will be tested for flaws, as it is given a working around the mandrel and we’ll keep a close eye on the band for any fractures.

This tool, usually will outlast the jewellers kidneys, with the hardened steel, they’ll be with you for a life time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀
