The yearly wrap ups have always been pretty weak by us, if I’m being goddam honest.

I think its a subconscious mix of not wanting to do the standard ‘year in review’, coupled with knowing that most people around this time of year really don’t give a fuck.

I’m fine with that. I’m not the kind of business owner that thinks we’re ‘changing lives’. We make jewellery, we do it really well, but we’re not going to try and weasel our way into your daily stride and force sentimentality on our audience during a time thats spent with friends and fam.

I guess, our visual ‘wrap ups’ aren’t solid, however I will always write some thoughts on the year and what we have planned for the following lap, 2024.

I like writing. You may have noticed whilst reading that it is usually an exercise of agitating thoughts that I didn’t know I had. By which I mean, I start writing without much of a pre-planned roadmap. I’ll begin and see where it takes me.

Its creativity therapy for me as much as it is ‘informative’ for the reader.

So let’s lay out the plans for 2024 FIRST, then we can recap 2023.

ALRIGHT, 2024...

Firstly, we have our scheduled “time to plan” over the next two weeks. The website will still be online, but we’ll relaunch on January 12th with a few big releases.

Here’s some teasers for what we have teed up for ‘24.

The Travelling Roadshow

We’ve ended up buying a custom food trailer to be used for exclusive launches throughout Australia. It’s essentially a custom mini-retail store, that we will pull up in stray lanes with a day or two notice and do launches out of.

This will be so sick, really, really pumped for it.

OMNI CHANNEL baby

After partnering with the new production houses, we finally have the ability to build stock and go into retail. Allow you to lay your peepers on the pieces in the flesh, get sized up and pick some brains in-store.

So we’ll be partnering with a domestic major retailer to exclusive house, Howlet.

No Monthly Exclusive Collab for 2024 BUT…

2023 taught me that we should no longer commit to 12 piece collections for the year. By Decembe this year, the style became slightly repetitive and that feedback was made very known.

So we decided to move more towards singular unique collaborations throughout the year. This gives us more ability to go all in one on design/er and give that launch a more intense run up for execution.

Category Expansion

We’ve always been very light on this strategy. However 2024, this changes.

The bracelet and necklace collections are going to swell up massively.

QUARTZ to Glass-Cut Stone Designs

We have a very unique collab we are working on, that will create some noise. If we can’t land the specific company, we’ll run solo - and most likely, quite illegally.

I’ll give you a hint. “Yooou can get it…..”

New Designs Include;

  1. Homeward Bound, trad-tattoo ship design

  2. Legacy Band II - sculptural legacy band

  3. Plain signets will fire up

  4. Our rendition on the traditional Claddagh ring

  5. Pendant collection will be double, by Feb

  6. Really sick new Anchor design

  7. Year Of The Dragon piece

  8. New birthstone band and pendant

  9. A 90s throwback, of a shark tooth necklace, which came out looking epic

  10. Octo signet

  11. Rectangular signet using an ancient Chinese tiger artwork

  12. Marquise signet, with hourglass & small eye

Obsolete Collectibles

The process of creating products, I really enjoy.

Jewellery hasn’t gotten stale in the slightest, however we have such a well oiled Motor Bunny, that I can draw a design on my cousins forehead with some Tommy sauce and the team will get it done, to perfection.

So dabbling in new product design will gain some speed. Mainly, to keep the juices flowing.

I’m talking, obscure, unrelated products. Think of something that would be so irrelevant connected to jewellery… Then double it. That’s where I am looking.

Documenting My Morning Routine…

Obviously this is a joke. Fuck me dead, I hate those videos by founders.

There’s nothing pretty about the process of creating, and when it does finally work, founders will connect the dots backwards and make it seem far more intentional than it was. Pisses me right off.

BUT, I’ll be getting more in front of the lens and showcasing processes of creating and burning. Not to “create value maaaaaan”, but because I like the process. It forces you to be a bit more deliberate and interesting, plus it’s a good skill to have - being able to speak on camera. So I guess it is creating value, but for me. Not you.

So next year will be similar to the last - lob enough bog at the wall, see what sticks, then go in deep on that.

2023.

Was super fun.

It also sucked in many areas.

But good god, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Let’s yarn soon.
